Droid keeps restarting/freezing

My Droid seems to reboot itself a few times a day when Im just trying to do simple tasks, like open up the web browser for instance. Also it will freeze up on me and give me a black screen, the only way to resolve this problem is to take out the battery and re-insert it. I took it to Verizon and they said "download this task manager" it will help. Well not 5 hours later i had the same problem when trying to use the browser. I am going to take it back to Verizon and try and get a new properly working phone on friday. I will let you all know how it goes, and if this solves my problem. Also I had a quick question. In the "car home" screen you have a voice search option. It says you can make calls from this option by saying "call _______ mobile phone" (insert name at blank ofcourse) I have tried this time and time again only to be sent to a web search. Just wondering if the Droid is capable of that or not. Thanks for all your help and LONG LIVE THE DROID.

You should be able to use the "Call" function to call people. Just as you can say "navigate" to. Has worked fine on both functions for me.

Though I will add a adjustment to this, I have heard that there are certain names that for whatever reason, the voice dialer just won't understand. This is, i could only imagine, a software problem, and would hope that this specific problem gets fixed. Though this is a more rare problem, so out of 200 people it may happen on 1 or none.

Mine too

Mine started right after the android/google update. At this moment it has not stopped rebooting for over an hour. I am really not happy about this. Originally it started of slow and randomly. Then every phone call till now. Phone is copmpletely useless at this point.

Other problems were notification volumes just lowering on their own. Messaging notification kept muting on its own. Random screens popping up out of nowhere.

I am always apprehensive about system updates but I thought google and motorola would have their **** together. Apparently not.

I better not have any problems from verison over this as I expect a new phone.

Ill report back....

Verizon HTC DROID Eris Rebooting Resolved

I started having this issue after I shut down the phone completely and tried to boot up. I usually never shut it down, but I was low on battery power.

After researching various forums on this issue, I figured out this is related to certain downloaded applications. I'm not sure which one yet, but I have a plan for figuring it out.

The following link will reset your phone to factory defaults and resolve the issue. The downside is, you lose all your data and settings.

How to hard reset your Verizon HTC DROID Eris - Know Your Cell

After performing these steps you have to setup and re-register your phone. Whole process takes less than 10 minutes.

I'm going to download one app at a time and shut the phone completely down, then boot up to test. I'll post back if I figure out which app caused my issue.

Voice Search

You're trying to call using the Voice Search feature. You need to use the Voice Dialer feature. Voice search is for navigation/web. Voice Dialer is for calls.

i'm having a serious problem with this today. i have a droid htc eris

my battery was low, and i didn't have a way to charge it, so i didn't use it until i could get it on a charger so i just shut it off. i needed to check something i had in a message so i turned it on and out of nowhere all of these things happened. it wouldn't let me slide down the touch thing to access the phone, and finally when that did unfreeze, my notification tone went off a bunch of times and then all of these force close things popped up not letting me do anything.

they were things like htc sense launcher, android process acore, google.process.gapps, mp3 store, and something about a blue tooth. i don't even use blue tooth, or an mp3 store or anything like that. and then after all of this, it just restarts and does it all over again.

is there seriously anything i can try or get help on from here, or do i have to return it?
