Hello... I've been waiting for my upgrade to a smart phone, and now that it's finally here i've been researching the past few weeks on phones. I was originally waiting for the bionic but i've been hearing far too many rumors about the release date / cancellation to wait around any more, i want to get the 4G unlimited data plan while it's still unlimited! anyways...

i am a smart phone/android newbie.. i've never had one but really want to get one, i am tech/pc savvy and want to root it and play with it. would it be worth buying the Thunderbolt, or waiting for something else soon, such as the samsung charge?

how is everybody enjoying their TB experience, would you recommend? im not worried about the battery.

thanks a lot. any help is appreciated!

First off welcome. Second off I am due for an upgrade from this old worn out droid, so I'm in the same boat as you. I am currently going to wait till june to make my decision because of all the rumors surrounding the bionic. Personally I think the rumors are just intentionally leaked to add suspense to the phone. It will by far be the best phone moto has ever made and its twin the Atrix is working just fine on att. So my suggestion is wait for the release or at least some real facts from motorola then make your decision, by then the thunderbolt will have more time and hopefully a bigger battery if the bionic fails.

If I had an upgrade right now I'd get the Thunderbolt. The Charge looks to be a nice phone but doesn't really have much over the TB and will be $300 on contract... You can get the TB for $180 from Amazon right now. I wouldn't wait for the Bionic. Motorola has gained a reputation of locking the bootloader, it's only going to have 512mb of RAM that has to be shared between 2 cores and the GPU and is probably going to run motoblur. (Motoblur is generally regarded as the worst UI overlay)

If you need an HDMI out and money isn't an object go for the charge, (TB doesn't have one) otherwise buy the Thunderbolt.

thanks for the quick responses guys, great answers. going to stay patient and keep my head open for ideas with all the responses i get. !
