Droid only vibrates for text when messaging app is not open. SMS Popup?

I use SMS Popup to receive on-screen notifications of my text messages but after installing Froyo via the OTA update, my Droid will only vibrate for a text message when the Messaging app is not open. I figured out that it is a problem with the app SMS Popup because when I uninstalled it, the problem was fixed.

Anyone else having this problem? I really like receiving the notifications for message on the screen rather than just having the LED flash. Any ideas? If not, any other apps that will do the same thing? I don't want to use Handcent because I don't like its messaging client. Thanks

I use Handcent and it notifies me when I receive a text and will do a pop up if the phone is in stand by. Since you do not want to use Handcent the other app that I see folks mention is chomp (I think).
