DROID RAZR MAXX availability problems?

I purchased DROID RAZR MAXX over a month ago, unfortunately at a Wireless Zone store, and it has not arrived. The Emps claim that it is "on backorder" and will be in whenever. A search did not turn up known shortages during March. Has anyone heard about availability problems for that model in the March timeframe?

Should have ordered online; stupidly did not.

The RAZR MAXX has been perpetually backordered since about March. They get some in but not enough to get them out of the backorder.

Usually ordering online yields a wait of about 1-2 weeks. Some people have luck with them being in stock in a local retail location.

It's definitely been tighter than others. The only Best Buy's in my area that are even getting it are the mobile only stores in places like the mall, and even then they're getting 1 or 2 at a time. The Verizon stores around here were out of them for a long time. They might have them back in stock now, but haven't checked in a couple of weeks. Clearly it's either in very high demand, not being produced fast enough or in high enough quantities, or a combination of both (I'm leaning towards the latter). Authorized premium retailers have had them, but again, not many.

If you can, I would cancel your current order and just get one directly from Verizon. Over a month with no definitive delivery information is unacceptable IMO.

Not that it matters, but for reference, I ordered mine online about two weeks after it was released. I had it in my hands two or three days later, despite it showing on backorder when I first placed the order.

Bestbuy's website is saying they will ship in 2-5 days, and they are in stores around my area. I would check to see if the same holds true for you, that is if you could cancel your current order.

I ordered mine on a phone call with Verizon about three weeks ago. They told me it was back ordered and would ship in about a week. I had also called a couple of local Verizon stores. They told me the same thing. It ended up shipping out the same day that I ordered it. I received it two days later.

It all seems so odd to me. If they are in THAT high of demand, then I should see them everywhere in peoples hands. It's a great phone, but I have only seen one other than my own in public.

Guess I got lucky...walked into the Verizon store in Hoffman Estates, IL this past Saturday and bought 3 new motorola razr maxx phones. If you go ask for Lemar, very helpful sales associate.

they let you do that? normally they'll only allow one per line... that is, unless that was for three lines

I got my MAXX last Thursday at about 7:30P at the Lawrenceville, GA Verizon Store. It was the last one that they had. My sales dude said they have a hard time keeping them in and the last shipment was that Tuesday. So, I'm really glad that I decided to upgrade last week!

I got mine during the BOGO at a store near Rockford IL we ordered them on Sunday (last day of the bogo feb. 20) and they were in our hands by Wed...The back order went to 2 weeks on the website that week.
