Droid vs Milestone

Hello everyone. Im on the AT&T network and I just purchased a Milestone that came from Canada and its running perfectly. Is the Milestone exactly the same as the Verizon Droid? Any operating systems that work for the Droid, will it work for the Milestone? I had the Droid last year when it came out when I was still with VZW, but had to switch over to AT&T and missed my Droid. My phone only has 2.1 so I was wondering if I could get the 2.2 on it or not?
