Droid X does not vibrate for texts/calendar

Seriously frustrating. I have reset my phone from the settings, and it didn't fix anything. Just made me waste more time recovering all of my stuff. It will vibrate when devices connect to my phone via tethering, and when I get phone calls. It will vibrate for everything except for text messages, and calendar notifications, both of which are of utmost importance to me. Anybody have any ideas of what to do?

go into the settings of both txt and the calendar and make sure vibrate is checked
