Droid X Joins Desire Z in Overclock World @ 1Ghz

Getting your device to the perfect speed without damaging it is not always an easy task, but a task that the Droid X can finally do. The Droid X, a device that is supposed to have a locked bootloader, can now be overclocked to a slightly better speed. The speed is not too significant but since we are always into new things, this is well worth noting.

This was all done by FreeWELL, who is homed at the Phandroid forum, and provided the guide to getting this going on your device. The changes might not be too apparent to the users, but at least you know you have it.

Does this new speed do anything for you? Do you think the Droid X has a chance at a faster speed?

I love overclocking. My AMD PhenomII X4 955 processor is 3Ghz stock. I have it running at 4Ghz right now. But the difference is that I have a huge heatsink and two 140mm fans on it (ultra quiet fans, can't stand the noise). I can also bump the voltages up since I'm connected to AC power, not a battery.

Honestly, is 100Mhz even worth it? Put a new rom on your DX. The Rubix 1 rom is **** YA FAST!!! You'll get way more out of that rom than a 100Mhz bump. You also lose battery life and the phone will generate more heat since you are upping the voltages, even if they are small bumps.

Droid2 can also be overclocked now. People are running 1.4Ghz stable.
