Droid X Newbie questions

I think I may ultimately love this phone, but right now it is irritating the crap out of me. You can help!
  1. The notifications bar is filling with unneeded icons. I have looked everywhere (on all home pages, in the list of all applications, etc.) and I cannot find the notifications "panel" (referred as such here: https://motorola-global-portal.cust...d/48504/kw/notifications panel/p/30,6720,7500) anywhere. How do I review and dismiss the notifications?
  2. If you are looking for something in the applications center (the list of all applications you get to via the launcher button), the Back button is EXTREMELY irritating. It does NOT go Back. It works as a Home button, which you already have in the hard keys! Why doesn't it just go back from one application's page to the list of all applications??
  3. I am using Corporate Sync, and I'm only getting emails. No sync of calendar or contacts, even though I un-checked those things for the useless GMail account and checked them for the Corporate account.
  4. I have set up multiple email accounts, one personal and one corporate (in addition to the useless GMail account), but it seems impossible to switch between them except by dozens of touches to get deep into the Email settings (where you can set the "primary" email account). This seems to be the ONLY email account. I can't believe this could be so difficult.
  5. I had to give the Verizon person info for setting up the useless GMail account, so once I got home, I naturally changed the password. I can't believe this is the case but THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ANY WAY TO CHANGE THE PASSWORD FOR THIS ACCOUNT ON THE PHONE! Are you serious??
I have to believe that I am missing something obvious for most if not all of these issues, which cannot possibly be as user-hostile as it seems.

Thanks for any and all answers.

If your notification bar is filling up with useless icons from apps that you have downloaded, then you need to go to the apps and setting and disable those notifications.

If you want to jump from different applications without going to your home page, then hold the home key button down until you feel a little vibrate and then you will see the last 8 apps you used on the phone and just press the one you want to jump to.

With the gmail email, I have always reset my password on my computer, but I think you can do it from the internet on your phone. I am not sure about doing it from the gmail icon.

I do not have corporate email, so hopefully some one else can assist with those questions.

Welcome to the X family.

3. I had the same issue with Corp Sync. I just deleted the Corp Account and reconfigured it. Then Contacts and Calendar synced up nicely.

4. Use the Motorola Messages Widget. It acts as a Universal Inbox on your home screen and you can choose which email accounts it should include.

I actually stumbled onto an answer for this one. There is a separate icon for GMail on one of the home pages. When I touched that, it realized that there was a login problem and prompted for the password. That seemed to fix the problem!

1) As was mentioned, you can drag the notification bar downward to get a complete list of your notifications. At this point you can either tap on the notification to go to app referenced or clear them all with the clear button.

2) The back button takes you back one screen. If the previous screen was the home screen that is where you go. It is most useful when in an application that has multiple screens, like email. You can go back from reading an email to the list view. The home button always take you home, or you can long press it to get a list of your most recent apps.

3&4) Download K-9 mail. It is far more configurable than the the stock email clients and includes a universal inbox. You can choose which inbox opens on startup in the settings.
