Droid X Operating system

I am considering getting a Droid X from VZ. In reading forums, it would appear that android 2.2 is a significant improvement over 2.1. I am having a hard time getting an answer from VZ whether one: the Droid X comes with 2.2, or two: if it comes with 2.1, can you do an over the air upgrade to 2.2.

Sorry if this has been addressed over an over, but I did a search and didn't see this question answered.

Thanks

I believe it now comes with 2.2 out of the box but if not you will get the ota relatively quickly.

Just got mine today.

It had 2.2.15 but it was a couple of maintenance releases behind, I then forced it to do an OTA update to 2.2.340.

Then I used z4root, installed the Droid X bootstrapper, installed and setup ROM manager, then installed Liberty ROM (made a backup first).

Liberty ROM is awesome, it hides/removes the hideous Blur UI.
