Droid X Pc Charging Issues

Any tips on how to get my phone to charge using my HP dv7 select edition laptop? Using the usb that came with the phone, it charges in the wall outlet okay, but I can't get my laptop or phone to sync so that I can add info to the phone (music, documents, photos), without having to remove the card from the phone.:motdroidvert:

Same laptop here, Charges fine from USB.

But it is slower and will not charge a completely dead Droid.
