DROID X reset

Have installed GB leak and have the stuck refresh icon. Have been told to do factory reset. Have been hearing about how Google backs up and restore app. Do I need to do anything to enable this or is it automatic? How do I restore after reset? Google search turned up know answers. Thanks for help.

the default account setting for your gmail acct should be to sync your apps. after doing a factory reset and signing in to your google acct, all of your apps should start downloading again. however it will only restore the apps themselves and not the data.
