Ok, so i've searched about phones not being able to update to gingerbread from froyo and found that i need to sbf back to stock etc etc. For the life of me though, I am unable to find an sbf. The pages ive seen had said to go to rootzwiki but there is are no sbf downloads that i could readily find.
Any help would be appreciated

Edit: read that sbf files can't be posted on df. Pretty much need to get back to a stock phone so that I can update

Edit 2: going to follow the info found here

I'm having the same issue with one of my Droid Xs. What System Version do you have? My is still on 2.3.151. So I didn't even get the OTA for 2.3.340.

Trying using the guide for SBF from here: U D G

To be honest, I don't remember but running that linux script from the link I posted put me back at a stock unrooted 2.2 and I could then update to 2.3 without any issues.

That linux stuff looks too technical for me. I've done SBFs on my other DX with no issues so ill go that route. Thanks!

Its actually not all that technical; very easy instructions. It just looks like a lot. pretty much the gist of that post is download & burn the file to cd, boot from cd and then it auto run the script, asks you to plug phone in under boot recovery and then takes care of it from there. As far as i know, its an automated sbf flash
