Droid2 sd card not recognized when i plug into my computer

so when i plug in the usb into my laptop and try to access my pix music w/e the sd card isnt recognized at all, not on my laptop and not on my phone. what to do?

What happens?
Error message of any kind?
When I plug my phone in, the droid icon pops up and it asks if I want to use usb storage.
After I say yes the sd card shows as the next drive, in my case F:\ and then I just drag files back and forth.

well at first it worked fine but now there is no error message its like the card isnt even there, i have my phone set on the usb mass storage and when i look in the my computer the sd card isnt there and when i try to view the pictures on my phone i just get a blank screen saying sd card is unmounted i think i have to reformat it but i dont wanna lose all the pix and vids i have
