Drop down menus lag the machine and then won't clear.

Lately my drop down menus get stuck and won't go away. Also, the app they're in runs real slow right after I use one. This affects all apps, so it is an Android codebase thing. I know the obvious fix (wipe and start over), but if there is a more targeted correction I can make I would prefer to do that. If it is in the image then I could end up having to reload all my apps and still not fix the problem.
