Duh! The Droid DOES Have One Touch Dialing

I've had my Droid over a month-- and I just figured out that you can you can set up a shortcut to a Contact on any home screen, creating an icon which will dial the desired phone number with a single touch.

If someone here will admit that they didn't know about this feature either, maybe I can stop slapping my forehead.

Thanks.

I knew u could place shortcuts for contacts on the homescreen but didn't know that it would dial and call it for u too with one touch...cause I've never used this feature...pretty nifty...

Geeze, that's gonna leave a bruise... :)

Just to clarify, if you select Contacts from the Shortcut menu, you get an icon that brings up the Contact info. If you select Direct Dial from the Shortcut menu, it gives you a one-touch dial icon.

I know I'm not the only one that didn't know this-- I think the others are too busy slapping their foreheads to reply. :icon_ devil:

I had half a page of them when I was using Home ++ and as soon as I get my 5 screens with 2.1 I will add them again. I've known about them for some time...but then again I'm obsessed.

i was just wondering about that today. I was getting tired of having to tap a million times to make a phone call from my contacts.

You can also create a folder and put all your one touch dialing shortcuts in that folder so they dont clog up your screen. It adds another step but it saves space but it's still fast dialing.

Don't forget that you can also press the search button and do a verbal dial command too, just say "Dial Joe Smith, mobile" and it starts ringing.

OK so how do you make a folder and put contacts in that folder to put on a home screen?
long press your desktop and select folders - new folder.

drag and drop your contacts to the folder.

long press the folder title bar (while it's open) to rename the folder.
