I'm guessing it's due to the recent buy one/get one sale. I'm sure many people took advantage of it and didn't need or want the second phone so they are selling it to make some money.

From what I have been told, the buy one get one free deal is omly good when you activate the second phone on another line, why would Verizon give away a Free phone, its not free, reason for the second free phone is so they can lock another customer up for two more years, Verizon is not in the charity business. Nothing is FREE anymore in this world.

I just listed one for that very reason. I will get 580 and give 240 to my wife for the 2 year contract cost and pay for my new max with the rest.
This is exactly the reason...to make some money. You do have to have two lines available for upgrade and activate both phones, but if the phones on the lines are still good, you can then just reactivate the old phone and sell the brand new Razr. Easy money.
I did the BOGO deal and could have easily sold the razr maxx as I already have a perfectly good used Bionic I bought off-contract.. I still would not be able to upgrade for another two years on my renewed contract, however. But I'm greedy and did activate both and use my Bionic at home on wifi. The spousal unit got one and I took the other.

you can knock your added lines down to $10 per month and associate them with old flip phones from your junk drawer. Then you do what you want with the 2 Razr Maxx phones as long as you know you will be paying $480 total for 2 lines at $10 per month.
I did it, and I made damn sure that it was OK with Verizon before I did it.
The fact that these are going for $500-$600 made it a no brainer for me.
Then I went and sold the X that I was using for $140.
all without using the upgrade. My brother and I both did it.
THATS whyt there are so many Razr Maxx phones on ebay.
on another note, the fact that the battery on this thing is what it is, makes it a beast. Able to do anything and everything and you don't even need to THINK about the battery. The bar has just been raised is a huge way.
