Editing ringtone in Samsung Galaxy S3 Groups

Hi! I have a samsung galaxy S3 and have created a "family" group and wish to assign a special ringtone to group members. Although there is the option to edit the ringtone doing so does not work - the phone simply rings as normal. What am I doing wrong please?
