Email Help!

I don't use Gmail, I use the regular email client that I hooked up to my comcast email. When I delete an email it always goes into the trash folder, but when I have alot of emails in the trash folder, I have to go through one by one to select each one. Is there any way to select all at the same time? When I have some selected, there is an option to deselect all, but not select all...which is very weird to me. Am I missing something?? Someone please help me! Thanks
