I tried to connect via USB when I got Eris a week ago.
Driver errors so I found the HTC sync software - Phone drivers installed but HTC software caused BSODs - Uninstalled HTC software but not drivers.
Reconnected ERIS to PC today - Still can't see the SDcard in mycomputer.
Am I missing something?
I don't think I have any sync software installed (not even from MS).
Am I suppose to be able to see the SDcard?

Did you unmount your sd card after you plugged it into the computer? Menu --> settings --> SD Card and phone settings -->Unmount SD Card

Yeah, that's the procedure. It won't wipe the card. Make sure you mount it again when you go to unplug the phone from the computer.

OK I plugged it into the USB
Unmounted Disc
Nothing Happens - Nothing shows up in MyComputer
Now I can't remount it
Do I have to physically remove it first, then remount it?
Cause that is not what I was hoping to do with it plugged it via USB...

EDIT: I got the card remounted

Back to original question - How do I see the card via usb via Mycomputer?

Back to original question - How do I see the card via usb via Mycomputer?
ON YOUR PHONE:
Connect the phone to the usb cable.
Slide down status bar.
Tap "USB connected"
Click "Mount"

ON YOUR COMPUTER:
If you have autoplay on, choose "Open folder to view files"
If not, go to My Computer, and your phone will show up as a removable drive.

OK - I found the drive letter (conflict with existing letter)
However - Mounted or Unmounted XP can't open the drive
(insert disc into drive)

So I'm wondering if I'm missing some drivers or just buggy phone/pc...

Secondly - Can you remount SD w/o removing it from the phone?

I am on Vista and had to download drivers before my phone would show anything on the computer. I don't have a disk, I just did an internet search from the HTC information to find them.
When you are ready to remount the SD, just end the USB connection. While the phone is connected via USB: Menu --> Notifications -->Turn Off USB Storage. When the Window pops up, select turn off. The top notification area (where the battery power and time is) will say something like "Preparing SD." When it goes off the screen, it will be remounted.

Thanks for remount tip

Maybe I have bad or incomplete drivers from when I uninstalled the HTC sync software.

I'll go look again...

Thanks for the help.

Apparently Google IS my friend:

Every time I connect my phone to a PC running windows XP the Found New Hardware Wizard launches and it says it Cannot Install This Hardware? more To mount your phone as a USB drive, after connecting to your PC, open the Notifications Panel (by touching and then dragging the status bar down) on your device, then in the Notifications Panel, touch USB connected and then touch Mount.

HTC Mobile Phone Support - DROID ERIS by HTC (Verizon) - Synchronization

Maybe I misunderstood the "mount" directions earlier - Maybe I should have "manned up" and read the manual :icon_ devil:
