The president of Essential, Niccolo de Masi, recently uploaded to Twitter a few photos with the new Essential phone. The phone is being sold as a flagship competitor with a Snapdragon 835 on board, and an innovative design. The camera is listed as a dual rear facing RGB+Mono 13MP and f/1.85 setup which on paper sounds like it would take excellent photos. Low light situations have been among the hardest to shoot on smartphones in the past years, however the latest flagships all do a great job with low light. That being said Essential is really going to have to step up their game in the camera department to compete. Hopefully these photos were taken prematurely and the camera software is still being tweaked. The photos that were posted by Masi show lots of noise and are super soft. This will have to be fixed before release otherwise they are going to hear about it in the initial reviews. I just hope they didn't put a sub par camera on the phone in order to sell a higher end module since modules are part of their sales strategy.

UPDATE: These photos have already been removed. It is possible they were uploaded by accident.
