Exchange Folders

I assume this is an ICS sandwhich issue, but I have noticed that when I attempt to move an e-mail to a particular folder form the Inbox to a subfolder it is not showing the higher level folder. For example I have a folder named saved with quite a few sub folders but when i select the message and move it is only showing the sub folders and not the upper level saved folder. It seems to me that it is showing all of the folders listed at one level and not in a tree format like my Droid X did with Gingerbread.

I have discovered that if I browse the folders they show up in tree format, this issue only occurs if you try to move a message.

Am I missing a stetting or something else here? As you can imagine it is very difficult to manage emails when the folders are not listed in tree format.

You are not missing anything. There is no tree format when moving folders and, yes, it's a pain. What it does is show you every single folder, in alphabetical order, without regards to the level of a particular folder.

For me -- and prob most Exchange users -- this presents a problem because I have many subfolders with identical names, but under different parent folders. For example, I have a folder for every client and then under each of those folders I have a subfolder names "In Progress". So now when I want to move an email from Inbox to a subfolder, there are 50+ subfolders called "In Progress". What I did was renamed every single subfolder so that they all start with the client name. So for client ABC, I have a subfolder called "ABC In Progress" and for client XYZ I have a subfolder called "XYZ In Progress". Ideal? No. But at least the folders are grouped together when I need to move from my phone.

Hope this helps.

It's good to know I am not missing anything but hopefully it's something that gets fixed soon since as you can imagine it doesn't work well like this.

I'm pretty sure it was like that on my DX which was on Gingerbread. As I said, the fix I used (changing folder names) sucks in that it takes some time to do, but it does work.

On a related note, probably since I have so many folders, the folder list takes forever to load when I'm trying to move an email. It takes as long as 30+ seconds sometimes. Do you find the same thing?

My DX was not like that, I could select a message to be moved and I could see the entire folder tree. There is no way I am going to rename all of my folders in Outlook to deal with this issue. I will either wait for a fix or just not be able to file e-mails away.

My folder list does take awhile to load, i think this is mainly due to it expanding the entire tree.

I have a Galaxy S3. My issue is that I have rules setup on my outlook email to automatically send new messages to these folders I have rules setup for. On my laptop they work great. On my Galaxy S3 the new messages in the folders with the rules don't show up as new mail on my email icon on the home screen. The only way for me to view these emails is to go to the email account the message is in, then search folders and then go to the folder with the new email in it. There has to be a setting I just am missing that even with a rule setup the email icon gets a prompt telling me I have mail. Please help!!!!!!!
