Extremely frustrating "disappearing keyboard" issue

I don't know what's up with this phone lately but one annoying problem is that just about everytime I click into a field to type something, the keyboard appears but then disappears after I hit a few keys. It doesn't seem to do it when texting but if I go into the map and try to search it does it, or when I'm typing a web address in the browser.

Anyone else have this issue? Seems to be random. It's pretty annoying, I have to say. I've also been having issues where I bring up an app (usually the brower or facebook) and four or five seconds later it just goes back to my home screen. No explanation, no reason. I click the app again and it loads and works fine.

I don't have this problem but I would back up your applications, contacts, etc. Power Cycle your phone ( Take battery out for 10 secs, then put back in and turn on) If it doesn't work, Hard Reset your phone. Maybe one of your settings got messed up. If that still doesn't work, send in to store or warranty for manufacture defect.

It is the 29th Aug 2013 and this dropping k/board is a real pain in the bum and I can see I am not alone here but to reset the phone is a too hard basket but may just have to go do it. I have taken the battery out and waited longer than 10 secs but it has not improved at all.

Have you tried installing a different keyboard? Perhaps that might fix the problem. There are many different types of great keyboards in Google Play.

Then, if that doesn't work, check to see if there are any software updates from your manufacturer, carrier, and/or system. This option is typically found in Settings->About Phone.

If that still doesn't fix the problem AND you are under warranty, then it's a great time to get a new device! =]

Optional crazy step: Put your phone in the freezer for a little bit. It's possible once the device cools down a little bit, it won't have the glitchy problems anymore.
