Face unlock not so accurate

I was at a dinner this past weekend - my brother wanted to check out my new GNex.
The face-unlock thought he was me and let him in. We're not twins but ok, I'll give you that since we're brothers, we've got similar facial features.
GNex/ICS let him in 10 out of 10 times.

However, then a friend of mine (does not look like me) tried it, and it let him in too (2 out of 10 times).

I know - its gimmicky and not really good security. I don't plan on using it long term - just wanted to try it out. Just thought you guy's would be interested in my experience with it.

Yes facial unlock basically can work with people who kinda look like you as well as pictures. Obviously not for security purposes. Like you said more of a gimmick than anything else. I personally use the pattern.

It worked pretty well for me! I could unlock it with or without my glasses on and it was very quick. Also let around 5 relatives try to unlock it and countless friends and none of them got in. So its definitely a great start to the feature but considering I've seen it work on videos with a picture of the person and as you said it works with your friend, it clearly isn't secure yet.

I personally just use the regular unlock though, I don't have any need for the security of a pattern or pin and like the ability to go straight into the camera!

Only reason why I lock my phone is so my girlfriends cant see all the other girls i text. :icon_ lala: fortunately I don't date girls that look like me. so face unlock is cool to me. and if it doesnt work. pattern lock pops right up.
