Facebook friends now appear when I address Gmail - any way I can get them out??

When I go to type a name into the TO line in Gmail, it suggests addresses that include my Facebook contacts. I really don't want Facebook in my Gmail. I have always had Facebook set to "do not synchronize" but somehow they got in there. I can't uninstall Facebook but I tried clearing the data - didn't work. I checked my contacts from a computer and my Facebook contacts are not listed there. It's only on the phone.

Anyone have any experience with removing Facebook contacts from Gmail? I can't find a setting anywhere.

HTC Sync always turned the facebook sync back on as far as I knew. Check under accounts/sync in settings. If you're rooted, I'd suggest removing facebook from /system/app and /data/app and reinstalling from the market...it does not have that annoying feature. It still gives you the option to sync contacts but won't turn it back on after you decline.
