couldn't u just do a factory reset to unroot? i'm getting a replacement phone in a couple days and i'm gonna reset it anyways. the unrooting process just seems like a waste of time if this will work. then if you planned on still using your newly unrooted phone you could just restore your backup. why have i not heard of this as a way to unroot?

No, a simple factory reset will not unroot ... you have have to go through all those steps.
