Can someone please help me? I accidentally deleted the Google task bar on my Motorola Droid homescreen! Does anyone know how to get it back?

long press the home screen where the search bar was > then select widgets > then find the g search one

The long search strip? Just press and hold on whatever screen it was on, select widgets, select search.

I like the task bar. Makes it simple to turn off wifi and blue tooth.

Yes, I know it's not that difficult to do anyway.:)

I was thinking he meant the search bar. I dont think the task bar comes set on the screen when you first get it.

Either way....like you I love having them on there. I use beautiful widgets to put gps, bluetooth, wifi and silent buttons on my screen.

Welcome to our community Bobbi. It will take some time to learn this beast but it is fun doing it. Dont sweat what may seem catastrophic since most things are easily fixed and or put back. Just remember to select the menu bar in different apps/screen and look around there. Also, long press on apps, pictures, other small items and the desktop to see what options you have. Besides that, just take some time to check out the market, read these forums, use the search feature and by all means ask questions. There is a wealth of knowledge here and everyone is more than willing to lend a helping hand.

Enjoy the ride.

That was one of the first things I deleted from my home screen. Takes up too much space for something I rarely use.

I did the same thing and only recently realized what a mistake that was. I use the voice search for calling someone, finding a map to someplace and navigating there, answering a question by searching the net. Did you know you can press the voice search button and say, "What is 11.7 times 22.6" and get the answer back? Or say, "Convert 20 degrees Celsius to Fahrenheit" and get the answer of 68 degrees?

If I could only have one thing on the home screen, the Google search widget would be it.

Yes, you're right. But I have gotten into states (can't reproduce right now) where pressing the search soft key, either tap or long, didn't call up the audio search button.

If you tap the search softkey it brings up quick search which will search google and usable options on your phone for that search. Tap the search softkey, type starbucks, it will bring up link to starbucks.com, option to view starbucks on map etc. If you long press the search softkey it brings up the voice search. You can tap or long press the search key even while you are in an app and get what you are searching for without exiting to your home screen. So there really is no need for the google search widget unless you just like the look of it :)

I can not figure out how to remove the search widget - the OP couldn't figure out how to get it back

I only sorta want to remove it for now, mainly want to better understand how to make modifications

If I understand how to remove that widget I will have a better understanding how the phone works, one baby step at a time...

Lovin this phone
