Freezing & Rebooting

I just got this phone almost a week and a half ago and like once a day the thing will freeze up to where the screen won't do anything so i press the power button to turn off the screen and try to turn it back on and it won't come back on. So i just let it sit there for like a couple mins then i see the droid boot up screen with the eye like it rebooted. Now it was stock before, i just rooted this weekend and havent installed any roms or overclocked anything yet. Anyone else have this issue or does it sound like a software issue? It came outta the box with 2.2 so I don't know if i should take it in and swap it out since im still within my 30days or what? What should I do? Thanks!

I would try doing a Factory Data Reset. This is what they are going to do anyway when you bring it in so you might as well do it yourself before they install a bunch of crap in your phone.

If you are running task killers or antivirus, remove them. You're going to lose them anyway when you do the reset, all your apps and data will be gone. Your contacts are backed up by Google so make sure you have your gmail synced before you do this. Your paid apps will be waiting for you in the downloads area of the Market and your free apps will have to be retrieved manually. Rather then get frustrated trying to remember them all just pick them up on an "as needed" basis.

This won't remove your root, it's just going to clear the phone up back to like when it was new, but you'll still be rooted.

Guess I shoulda mentioned that LOL but I already had done that too cuz I was having 3G issues where the signal would just outta the blue cut out for a few minutes and come back but its still doing that as well. Verizon said they would get back to me on that to determine whether its a network issue not and havent heard anything back yet. Any other suggestions? I dont have any task killers or antivirus as ive read they can do more harm than good or not to do anything at all.

Well, you're going to have to bring it back to stock before returning it. You can do that by sbf or you can make it easy on yourself and download z4Root from the market. One touch will bring you back to stock. Yes, exchange while in the 30 day period for another phone, they will give you a brand new one. Run it stock for a week to make sure you don't have any issues, then root it again.
