Looking for some ideas from the brain trust! Would like to transfer pix taken on my point-and-shoot digital camera directly to the Droid. Do Not want to use a PC between. Thoughts on cabling, software, approaches (move an sd card?) would be appreciated. Put on your Thinking Cap! Thanks!

From Digital camera directly to Droid?

So, if cards are compatible I could just move the camera's card to the Droid? Would that work? Or should I pull the Droid card, put into camera, take pictures, move back??:huh:

If your camera uses sd cards, you could try eye-fi cards. They can transmit your pictures via wi-fi to your droid.

Looks like this might not work. But I am pursuing through tech support at eye-fi.
Weird cable - yes? And would the camera recognize the sd card in phone? Or conversely, would a file manager on the phone "see" the card in the camera? I don't see how it would. But, if I could find the proper cable, I would try!:wacko:

I bought a new card for my camera and saw my 1gb. Wondered what was on it (first one I bought 2 years ago when I got my camera, had been using a 4gb for over a year), wanted some of those pics on my Droid, and did the above steps. Droid takes wonderful photos!

I just found this thread in this forum where someone from eye-fi helped someone here use his droid as a hotspot to send pics from his digital camera straight to his computer or a photo sharing site.

Not bad - but I'm not rooted so can't formulate a hotspot on my Droid. But I have sent an inquiry to eye-fi tech support and will report back any info.
dancedroid Wanted to get back to the thread with the official response from Eye-fi tech support:
"Thank you for contacting Eye-Fi Customer Care.
Currently we do not offer an Android application. We do have one for iPhone application, however, that only allows photos to go from the iPhone to your computer or webshare, not from camera to iPhone. To request new features for Eye-Fi, please see our forums at Eye-Fi Forums • Index page."
However, I still think this a plausible and very useful feature and will submit same to Eye-fi.
