We are just a few days away from the official Samsung Galaxy Note 8 announcement which will happen on August 23. There have been a few live photos of the device and we pretty much known all there is to know about what the phone will look like and the internal specs. Roland Quandt, a well known leaker, says that the Note 8 will come in a 256GB variant! That's the good news. The bad news is that the variant may only release in Korea. At 256GB I wouldn't have to worry about an SDcard!

That would be awesome! It would have to be $1000+ though.

How come phones haven't gotten any cheaper over the years?! They just seem to be going up in price. That's not normal in the tech world!!

I liked their relatively brief con of not offering an SD slot and charging you 4X what you would pay for the same capacity micro SD card.

Why? Because carriers and manufacturers have caught most of the populace onto the leasing treadmill. Most people don't see the 1000+ price tag. They see the 20-40 dollar a month lease price. Therefore the shock isn't nearly as great.
We as a collective have created and kept fueling this idea that phones are junk after two years or less. Making the lease idea not as bad as it seems.
We haven't let go of the spec war from yesteryear. We've kept telling ourselves the lie that somehow the 2017 model is boldly different than the 2016 version. Lastly, we let the manufacturers lock us into those lies by locking down the phones in a manner that makes software updates almost require the purchase of a new device.

In short it's our own damn fault.

Depends on phone. I bought moto z play for 300 off contract. That's pretty cheap for a good device. With Samsung you often pay premium for the name.
