Galaxy S4 Becomes First Android with DoD Security Approval Thanks to Knox

One of the cool, but overlooked features of the new Samsung Galaxy S4 flagship is their new Knox Security software. In fact, in might be overlooked by the general public, but it certainly wasn't overlooked by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). In fact, because of Samsung's Knox security software, the new SGS4 has just become the first Android smartphone to receive security approval by the DoD. As a further feather in Samsung's cap, the SGS4 also beat the iPhone to the punch with this distinction. Here's a quote with more of the details,

The Galaxy S4 actually beats the iPhone as Apple is still waiting for that seal of approval. Samsung’s Knox security system played a key role in getting the clearance.

Moreover, this approval right works for the Galaxy S4 only, but is expected to spread to all Samsung smartphones in the near future. And what’s best, Samsung was expected to only get later in May.

This makes the Galaxy S4 the first Android smartphone approved for use by the U.S. Department of Defense.

Knox, Samsung’s security system, was introduced a couple of months ago at Mobile World Congress 2013 and is built to help manage using the same device for work and play. Knox basically encrypts certain data like work email, while leaving personal files free from that control.

i can only hope i get to, right nowfor my command LPO's and Cheifs get to have a work blackberry. i know i've a few years before i get to that level, but either way this would be awesome.
