If you would rather your smartphone be tougher and more resilient to the elements than look like a piece of art, then the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active might just be the ticket. The first leaked images of the new Sammy made device just hit the web.

As you can see from the image above, the phone definitely has that "rugged" design aesthetic, although that is too be expected (and perhaps desired) by folks who want to take it to the beach or rock climbing. The most notable difference beyond the obvious is that this Galaxy S6 is missing the fingerprint sensor. That's likely because of the waterproofing.

Along with the leaked image, the report suggests the phone will come with a remarkably sized 3,500 mAh battery. That should give you plenty of time to still use your device while jet-skiing or snow-boarding. Here are a few more notable specs revealed with the leaked images:
  • 14nm Exynos 7420 SoC
  • 5.1” QHD Super AMOLED display
  • 16MP main camera
  • 5MP front-facing camera

No specifics on that front yet...

My S3 is dying and I can't decide whether to get the G4 or hold out hope for an S6 Active on Verizon in a couple of months.....

I don't think you can go wrong with either phone. Just wait a little while and see if the S6 Active comes on VZW and if not, then get the G4.
