Gameboy Color emulator problem??

I downloaded the Gameboy Advance emulator and have been playing pokemon Ruby on it. the game works and saves perfectly.

I downloaded the gameboy color emulator and downloaded pokemon Silver for it. and the game erases my data everytime i close it. Despite the fact i save it the exact same way as Ruby.

is this a problem with the Emulator? i know the older pokemon CARTRIDGES have batteries that lose their lives. would this be why??

Hey i see you downloaded the emulator but im not sure what im supposed to do once i download it...wondering if you could help me out
