Is it true that we will have to wait until Verizon updates us Droid2 users with Gingerbread until we are able to produce custom roms or will us rooted users get custom roms before Verizon pushes them out?

Source code for GB has already been leaked and there are a couple of development ROMs already available for at least the D1 that I know of...D2 and DX shouldn't be far behind. Its a VERY good chance that custom ROMs will be out before the OTA! I had Froyo like 3 months before my non-rooted friends did!

Source code wasn't leaked. It was released.
Hopefully these awesome devs get this out for us soon. I hear the real problem is that gingerbread works best when coupled with a certain kernel, which is locked out for us.

I feel like the Droid 2 FAQ section would be better anyways. BUT to answer his question so i don't come across as a complete jerk... Unfortunately AOSP does not work well with D2, so we'll definitely have to wait
