General? On roms

I am new here and have some general? On custom roms. It is my understanding that when you install a rom you no longer run on the os that came on the phone? If I install a rom can I still have corporate sync email and calendars? Those two for now. I am sure more will arise. Thank you.

As long as you stock with a rom with some blur... Like dark slide... Apex.... And liberty..... Are all great roms which will support corporate sync
