Getting apps from SD card to new phone

I've been looking for answer all night. So sorry if I over looked it.
. I have had to exchange 2 of my phones within three weeks purchase. And this time I've kept my SD card. And I for the life of me cannot find how to get all my apps/shortcuts saved back to the phone. One of most important is my maps./google. With address's saved.
I know how and have already done-my paid apps to the phone. . I love the Fascinate. But with Issue after issue-I'm close to going with the Droid.

I'm not sure that you can restore an app from an old SD card. Typically, you need to reinstall the apps then move to your SD card.

I may be wrong but I believe so.

The OS on your previous phone knew to look on the card for the app when you move them. The new phone does not.

Even with them on your card you would still need to install them. What you have saved is the data but you need the apk file to actually install them. At least that's how I understand it to be.

Thks guys. It's just a big disappointment that I've lost everything. Twice. Speeding all this time with the setting my agends and the like..the first time was because the system was laggy, verizon guy said because I down loaded an app that was a virus. "the pill"Is what he called it.. which was suppose to be antivirus. So they just gave me anew phone and card. That phone the screen would turn green. So now I'm on the third and have lost that lovin feelin. The only app I've added is the droid forums.

You may not have lost everything. If you use the Google calendar your appointments will, like you contacts, restore when you reenter your Google account.

I may be wrong but I've not heard about or read anything about a "pill" or virus. I'm thinking that the customer service fellow was just giving you an answer. Just my opinion.
