I'm getting my X in 1-2 weeks. :icon_ banana:
When I get it, should I play around with it with the stock launcher for a day, two, a week.

OR...should I just go straight out and get Launcher Pro Plus and then start playing and adjusting things the way I want?

I am coming from an LG Dare and have NEVER had a smartphone, BUT I am a techie and I learn super quick and love playing to learn!!

If you respond please give me some in depth feedback please dancedroid

I purchased a Droid X on launch day for my wife and had her play around with the stock launcher for a week.

She compared it to Launcher Pro that is installed on my Droid 1.

She asked me to install Launcher Pro because it is quicker and she loved the fact that it could display in landscape mode.

She lost the functionality of the Motorblur widgets but I was able to replace those with comparable widgets.

After I installed Launcher Pro on her phone a few of her friends asked me to install it on their phones as well.

This is the first smartphone for each of these people so they were not biased by any phone they had previously owned.

I have been using Launcher Pro for a while and recently purchased Plus.

In my opinion Launcher Pro would be the first thing I installed when setting up any new Droid phone.

If I were you I would start out with the Stock launcher at first, to better understand how the Android System works.

My personal view has always been to try the Stock Apps first. If you get too many apps running over the top of the stock apps, you will eventually have a mess, and a slow / buggy phone.

I am fine with the stock launcher, but I use another email app.

Many here love Launcher Pro. I tried it, but went back to the stock launcher.

Don't fall into the trap of downloading every app just because it free.

That is the biggest problem I see with new android users.

Good Luck

Launcher Pro fixed the resizing widgets thing. I know the contacts quick tasks can be resized and the others probably can too.

I got Laucher Pro after looking around on the web and reading some feedback and haven't been sorry since day one. In fact, I just upgraded to Plus this past weekend. It's great!

- Faster / Smoother scrolling in APP drawer & home screens
- Resizable widgets are great! I use those a lot.
- 15 icon dock allows you to cut down number of home screens and keep those apps for easy access
- Pinch zoom to access home screen is great! (people seem to like this feature a lot when I show it to them)

I also like the LP Pro widgets that you get with it, but I would make it the deciding factor on upgrading. I did try other launchers, but didn't feel impressed with them. LP Pro has been great.
