gingerbread 0.5 can not connect to google account

After installing 0.1 and having it work great I installed 0.5 and once it booted it asked me to sign into my google account like usual, it could never connect...

any ideas?

I had the same issue. Skip the setup process for now. Activate your wifi. Then if it hasn't already corrected itself and connected to google, go to your accounts and do it again over a wifi connetion.
