gmail contacts

Hi this is my first post. I got my eris yesterday and and after going into my gmail account from my phone I can't find my contacts, can someone please help. I don't believe that people remember everyones email address off the top of their heads so they have to be somewhere.

First, :welcome: to the Forum. I don't have Eris but I think I can help you anyway.

On your Eris you should have Settins/Accounts & Sync. Do you see your gmail address there? Does it say sync is on? If not you'll need to set it up. If you do then go on line to your contacts in Gmail and make sure that the contacts you want to appear in your phone are set up in "My Contacts."

If that doesn't work come back and we'll try and help you some more.

Never would of thought to use Google first.....

The only problem is that all the answers are for the Desire or Hero not the Incredible.

Does this work?

From most newer Android phones, pull up your contacts (from my Verizon "The Incredible" HTC phone, it's called "People" under the programs selection), and select menu or settings while contacts are pulled up.
1. Select Menu
2. Select View (picture of an eye above the button)
3. Deselect where it says "Show auto Gmail Contacts"

Thanks. That helps filter them out of my contacts.

I wish there there were a setting in gmail or on the phone to only sync with certain groups. Maybe in 2.2.
