Gmail: keep message on server?

The Razr Maxx came from VZ with an active Gmail app.

My other account (POP) is set up to leave on the server the mails deleted from the mobile, so the messages are still accessible from my PC.

Is there a way to set up the Gmail app to do the same? Right now, if I delete on the Maxx, it is sent to trash and not visible in the PC Gmail Inbox anymore.

I tried to turn Gmail sync off, but it looks like it is still pushing mails to trash on the server.

Also....can Gmail be set up for the delete gesture to work with it?
