GMAILNEWLOOK-550x350.png

Google is on fire lately! With the launch of the uber exclusive social network, Google+, we were introduced to something I wasn’t used to seeing from Google: polished UI.
Well, it looks like Google is running with the UI from Google+ and incorporating it into Gmail as well. The newer, more minimalistic, clean look wont officially be rolling out for a little while longer but you can get a sneak peak preview with Google making it available as a theme inside of Gmail’s settings.

Not only will Gmail be receiving a facelift but Google said we should see it in Google Calendar as well so look forward to that in the coming days. I honestly couldn’t stand the old cluttered look and as superficial as it sounds, hated opening my Gmail simply because of how painful it was to look at. Of course, all that has changed and I can now leave my Gmail tab open and get to tackling those 402 unread messages.

The colors are way to light. I prefer the really dark and easy to read themes. If you are outside or in a bright room, the text and background are too similar.

What i hated about gmail was the mail layout. When someone sends you an email it goes into that email thread. I prefer to have separate emails when it comes in. Did the old gmail have this option to change or will the new one will?

I'm glad that Google is finally starting to pay more attention to design and UI, but they still need to go back and fix the functionality of their new Google Music Beta service. It's embarrassingly bad...almost makes me want an iphone.

It looks alright but there's too much extra space now, even on the dense version. They made the margins on everything bigger when they didn't really need to. It just makes it look bulky now.

I agree. I do not like it all for some reason. Feels too "light", too much white, and there is no curvature to any of the buttons (looks very flat)

Step in the right direction but where is the select all button so I can delete spam in one fell swoop on the mobile version of Gmail?
