I seem to have issues with Gmail not pushing mail to me, even after sitting in my account for hours.

Automatic, background sync is on for all four accounts...and it has worked fine in the past.

Going into Settings, turning off Auto Sync, then turning it on again always wakes things up again.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for your help.

It turns out there was already a thread about this, which I found in a generic Google search (didn't see it while I was here for some reason). And there was a solution that worked for me...thanks, JhankG!

1) Go into the settings menu for the phone
2) Choose applications
3) Choose Manage Applications
4) Under Manage Applications set the Filter to ALL. Not sure why this isn't the default but c'est la vie.
5) Scroll down and choose GMail Storage
6) Tap the button for Clear Data

As mentioned in that thread, clearing data is a temporary fix but there are a couple of ideas about a permanent fix.

Do you mean setting the inbox to "Sync all"? I don't see anything about a "permanent fix" in there, unless you mean not using WiFi, which I don't consider to be a permanent fix :D

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. I've seen quite a lot of potential solutions to this problem: be very careful or don't use a task killer, don't delete messages until their attachments are fully downloaded. For me, the key has been to turn off wifi. I'm really not sure if it's a coincidence but has been great for over 3 weeks.
