Gmail notification per user?

Can we have our email notification be on a per contact basis. I get a lot of emails throughout the day and do not want my phone to buzz or ring for each. Is there a way to make it so it will only notify me for certain contacts I choose?

If not this would be a great app for someone to make!

I don't think that any email apps currently support this. A workaround would be to set up dummy gmail accounts for each alert tone. Have the main account filter and forward messages to each dummy account. Have the phone check the dummy accounts. Messy, I know.
