gmail pictures

When did gmail get pinch to zoom ? My wife just sent pictures to my gmail i was previewing the pictures with my thumb touching the edge of the screen i used my other finger to wipe a smudge and the picture zoomed out .

My phone does not do this... Dolphin browser enables pinch zoom but not the current Gmail app... as afar as I know.
