My gmail keeps force closing everytime I restart my phone or try and open it. I also am unable to install the newest update of gmail (couple of weeks ago) I also have a friend (running miui) who also can't install the newest update. Any ideas?

Using root explorer or titanium backup remove gmail.apk from system/app. Reboot and then get the update from the market.

Not sure about the fcs, but to get the new one you have to uninstall the old one because it is in system/app and then download the new one.

FC market and clear data/cache through manage apps.

Maks64, please let us know if this works for you. My attempts were not successful. I renamed the gmail apk to bkp then downloaded but the install always failed.
