Going from liberty .04 to .08

Ok I'm on liberty .04 with .588. I know I will have to upgrade to.596 first and then upgrade to liberty rom. At least I think thats what I'm supposed to do because thats what I read in the sticky. My question is, .rough both of these updates do I absolutely have to do a data wipe? it would be really nice if there was a way do I didn't have to do it. Any input is welcome I still want to do what is the best way thats why I'm asking.

Yes, data wipe to .596.

I'd advise downloading all the necessary zip files to your sdcard and do it all in one recovery session. Flash the .596 zips and then flash Liberty right after.

The following boot will probably take a long time, so I'd advise having a full battery when starting the process.
