Goodbye 2 the moto droid 1?

I was just wondering w/ the droid 2 and droid x coming out will that mean the Droid 1 will lose the attention from the custom rom devs or lose any support? I'm addicted to flashing the new roms and themes, I just got this phone in march when my contract ran out should I look into getting the droid x or droid 2? Would it be worth it to buy one of them retail and give up my droid 1? It would just suck if this phone would be "phased out" so to speak in the droid community

doubt it.

Since the Droid is such an open OS without the HTC Sense or Motoblur then i doubt the development team would "abandon" it. It's fully capable of still competing with the other phones coming out.

not every dev out there has 500 dollars to just go throw away on a cell phone so i am sure there will still be roms made for the droid its a outstanding fone

Most definitely not. This isn't Microsoft, where they're gonna kill their old products for the new. the Droid is going to be around to be around long after the Droid 2 and Droid X dominate the market (think Sony's Playstation2 support even with the PS3).

So those not ready to switch, or can't afford it, will have nothing to worry about. Rom developers are doing what they're doing because they love doing it. There would be no sense in dropping what they already know for a newer and fancier toy. It only means they're gonna have to do extra workl to keep us happy :P

Awesome glad to hear that cause I'm starting to make my own live wallpaper and then gonna try launchers and keep on trying to move up to whole themes I have a full time job and its hard and takes a long time reading and doing research, self teaching so it would suck if it died out while I'm trying to learn

ill probably develop for both, or i might do droid only untill the htc scorpion or moto's 2ghz phone comes out. and im sure more will do the same
