Hello everyone,

I just picked up my Droid a couple days ago and so far I'm loving the phone so much, I wouldn't even consider going back to an iphone or blackberry.

The only thing that I want to do is root the phone but I've been researching on the web on how to do it and some people get it right and some people end up with a screwed up phone so I was wondering if any of you guys/girls can post a link of a site or diy instruction on how to root the phone. I'm on the 2.1 firmware atm. Really want to root the phone due to the fact when I had my iphone it was jailbroken and would like get change up the themes and what not.

I bought the Droid off kijiji and the owner told me that it was rooted but I don't even know how to tell if it is so if anyone can help me out and let me know if the phone is actually rooted that would be great.

Thanks in advance and hope too meet some nice people on this forum !

Welcome, un09! Glad to have you with us! Make yourself at home and jump right in! Reading the threads on the forum will only increase how much you enjoy that new Droid!

You'll know if you're rooted if you still have the black Ninja icon in the app tray. Here are some good threads on rooting.

What I Have Done With a Rooted Droid That I Couldn't Do Before

Hope you enjoy your time here! :welcome:

EDIT*** where would that app tray be located ? sorry for the newb question..

you have to downgrade to 2.0 and root it from there if you decide you want 2.1 the 2.1 file im sure its floating around the web somewhere

The app tray is the gray tab at the bottom of your home screen - just pull it up and everything installed on your phone will be in there. (And not necessarily on a screen.)
