Along with Android L and Android Wear, Google announced Android One. This is a program designed to offer OEMs a turn-key solution to create cost-conscious hardware and software for affordable Android devices in emerging markets. This also helps Google dictate a minimum set of standards for forthcoming Android handsets.

Google will initially be teaming up with Indian smartphone makers like Karbonn and Spice, but plan to bring this program to other areas globally. Sundar Pichai discussed a Micromax Android One device with dual-SIM and SD card slots, a 4.5-inch display and FM radio, which was only $100 with no contract. He made it clear these devices will also get the same prioritization as the Nexus and Google Play devices regarding automatic software updates.
