Google Chat (gchat) Question

I just noticed that when I log into gchat, i'm always orange which means idle. i can't seem to make myself green (active) no matter what I do. anybody else in gchat have this problem?

I have been told that I always show as idle.

Are you logged into GMail or Google Chat on a desktop or laptop?

That might be idle and not allow you to come out of the state because the desktop app has presence or something?

The answer to the above question might provide some more insight into the problem.

I'm not logged into a laptop or desktop. i have both gmail and gchat up on the droid.
