Google is acting like a password... Help!

So I go into Google to search something and it enters dots rather than the letters, as if you're entering something into a password field. It does Google the correct thing, and it even gives the predictive search suggestions. How can I fix this so I can see what I'm typing? I haven't changed any settings as far as I know...

Mine started doing this also. Just started last night. No updates and didnt change settings??? HTC Thunderbolt

My guess would be that Google made some changes to their mobile site, and accidently made the search box appear as a password entry box. Probably nothing you can do, it would have to be fixed on Google's end.

Well this isn't good... I look things up on Google all the time from my TB. And I hate having to have the widget on the screen. Bleh.

Workaround possibly found?

I need others to try this and see if it works on other devices. From main mobile search page, click "settings", turn off the option for "Query suggestions in search box". Click save. If you are logged in, it will save this preference until you switch it back or log out. If you are not logged in it will save it as long as google's site cookie is intact on your browser.

Try it out and post if it works so others know. Hopefully google will fix this quickly.

Tried it, while logged in, and it worked temporarily. Then it went back to same problem.

Seems Google has something wrong. I am using dolphin and stock browser and i have the same issue using both browser. Hope it will fix asap.

Its really unfortunate that such a great device continues to be plagued by annoyances like this.

Not everyone is having this issue.
I never said they did? Obviously enough people are having the problem to create a multiple page thread about it though. I wasn't trying to say anything negative about the phone...just that its unfortunate for such a great device (and flagship verizon phone atm) to have these random issues.
